It was a long and winding road that led me to paradise, having spent my first eighteen years in Milwaukee followed by ten years of exploration in Tucson (AZ),
Madison (WI), Chicago, Washington D.C., Alexandria (VA), Atlanta, and St. Louis.
And then I found myself in Destin, Florida in 2001. Ahem - you can imagine the reaction when I was informed that this liberal-minded, Yankee city girl was being transplanted to "The World's Luckiest Fishing Village" on the “Redneck Riviera". WTF? It only took a few days after arriving in Destin to realize South Walton - an area made up of fifteen quaint, charming beach towns about fifteen miles east of Destin - is where I really wanted to be. I bought our own little beach cottage in South Walton and haven’t looked back since.
I started SouthWaltonScene.com for a few reasons. If I’m communicating through the written word, creating and designing, on a computer? It. Just. Doesn't. Get. Better. Than. This. I really wanted a platform where I could celebrate the people, businesses and all the other wonderful things about South Walton because when I like something, I want to tell the world about it. And, much to my amazement, there wasn't an online resource like this at the time so I created one.
Living in an affluent beach resort town where millions flood the community annually, where most who live here do so by choice, that is growing and changing at lightening speed is a real trip! So glad I am here to share it all with you.

- Add a comment to any post. At the bottom
of each post, there is a little "comment" link or a comment entry form
depending on which page you land on. Here's a step-by-step on how to
post a comment on SoWal Scene -
1) Name - Enter either your real name, a preferred screen name or just your initials - whatever you want.
2) Email - This is to verify that you aren't a robot/spammer only! We Don't Spam. Ever. Spam sucks. AND your email will not show when you post your comment.
3) URL - Have your own blog or website you want to plug? This is where you can do that. If you enter your URL (techie talk for your website address), your name will be highlighted and visitors can click on it to go to your site. I encourage shamless plugs if you aren't a spammer.
4) Comments - Chat away in this big box - keep in mind once you post, you can't go back to edit or correct typos, though. I personally suck at proofreading and am the queen of typos so don't feel bad if you realize you've made lots of errors - we can still usually decipher your comment.
