Sometimes when you're in a hurry, you just want to grab something delish to start your day on the right foot - without the hassle of sit-down service, servers and wait times. Be it a sausage, egg and cheese biscuit or a plate of grits and eggs, I'm talking about the type of unpretentious fare that you can eat in the car or order at a counter and sit at a table where you're required to clean up after yourself.
Here is a round up of some favorite local eateries to grab your morning fuel when on the fly in South Walton:
- Summer Kitchen Cafe' - Rosemary Beach
SKC serves up cheesy Omelets, "Roll Ups" with a varied choice of fillings, Frittatta and more in an ultra-casual, order-at-the-counter atmosphere. Hours: 8-1030AM daily
- Seagrove Coyote - Seagrove Beach
Get your Mexican fix at this cute little spot on Scenic Hwy 30A in Seagrove Beach. Huevos Rancheros, Chilequiles, Moyetes, Omeletes and more are served daily starting at 7AM. (CONTINUED BELOW)

- The Caf Southern Home Cooking - Santa Rosa Beach
Don't let the appearance of this hole-in-the-wall joint attached to the Chevron station fool you. The owners of The Caf are serving up some stick-to-the-ribs, simple, on-the-go southern favs - fluffy biscuit sandwiches, sausage and grits, biscuits and gravy, fried egg croissant daily starting at 6AM.
- Charlies Donut Truck - Alys Beach
Did you know about Charlie's Donut Truck in Alys Beach [MAP]? Every Thursday, Friday and Saturday morning at 630am, Charlie's Donut Truck (a converted vintage Sunbeam bread truck) located on the west side of the Amphitheater on Scenic 30A opens and sells super-fresh donuts and pastries (delivered daily from Charlie's bakery in PCB), plus hot coffee, cold drinks and more. He stays open until noon or until they sell out (which I am hearing happens daily), whichever comes first!
- Modica Market - SEASIDE
The iconic Modica Market has been serving homemade items from their large deli counter since the '80s and is a favorite on-the-go breakfast and lunch spot for locals and tourists alike! Grab a piping hot biscuit sandwich, muffin, croissant, or pastry with a cup of Joe on your way back from a morning stroll on the beach. Open daily at 7AM.
