“So many people follow this show and get deeply invested into which competitors make it each week,” said Lisa Burwell, publisher of VIE. “We think it is a great idea to have a local Idol enthusiast provide play-by-play commentary and analysis of the show.”
Now in its ninth season, American Idol has captivated audiences across the country with its colorful auditions, inspirational stories, interpersonal drama, and ultimately the birthing of new pop stars. In years past, the number of votes that American Idol has received for singers on the show has surpassed voting numbers for presidential elections.
Cloutier first began writing about the show after attending the season six American Idol Tour in Jacksonville, Florida in Summer 2006. Cloutier composed an article about the experience and her husband, Joe, a photographer, contributed photos to The Walton Sun, which spawned Cloutier’s column in that newspaper called “Idol Beat.” Because of her successful column and press credentials, FOX provided her with access to numerous singers, and even allowed her to interview host Ryan Seacrest at Atlanta auditions during season seven. Now, as a registered VIE correspondent, Cloutier will be using her connections and passion for the show to provide quality wit, humor, and trivia about American Idol to VIE readers.
This season, several of the contenders hail from Florida making VIE’s coverage of the show that much more exciting. Cloutier has already selected some of her favorites and invites readers to give their input on all aspects of the competition.
