From the BUSINESS Scene - Shop for a Job at Silver Sands Factory Stores

There are currently over 20 stores hiring for various retail positions, from sales associates to managers. Silver Sands is hosting a series of “Shop for a Job” festival on the next three consecutive Wednesdays – March 24, March 31 and April 7 from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.

“Silver Sands stores are now hiring for the peak spring and summer season. We encourage high school and college students who are home for spring break to interview for and secure a summer job,” stated Traci Stokes, Marketing Director for Silver Sands. “Landing a seasonal job at Silver Sands could be the beginning of a long-term career with a top designer company.”

During the “Shop for a Job” fairs on March 24, March 31 and April 7, the JobsPlus 40-foot Mobile One-Stop vehicle will be stationed at Silver Sands from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. The JobsPlus Mobile One-Stop will facilitate the hiring process during Silver Sands “Shop for a Job” fairs by allowing applicants to go online to corporate Web sites and apply for jobs at Silver Sands. In addition, job seekers will be able to register in the Employ Florida Marketplace database to search and apply for additional employment opportunities throughout the state. JobsPlus team members will be available to critique resumes, make suggestions on how to upload resumes in their system, provide tips concerning dress and appearance and conduct comprehensive job searches for potential employment opportunities.

“The goal of JobsPlus One-Stop Career Centers is to help match our local job seekers with employers who are hiring,” stated Trisha King, Business Service Representative for JobsPlus One-Stop Career Center. “We feel that by partnering with Silver Sands for this event, we are able to provide these services to our job seekers and employers.”

The mobile career center is equipped with twelve computer stations with Internet access, flat screen televisions both inside and outside for training and class presentations, an outdoor canopy, a sound system and a generator to provide its own power.

“Silver Sands first partnered with JobsPlus last year and saw a 45 percent increase in the number of applicants that came to the job fairs,” stated Stokes. “We’re thrilled to continue our partnership and provide these great resources to the community.”

Applicants are able to begin their job search at Shopper Services, located near Michael Kors and Lacoste, and complete a profile sheet that will be accepted by all 100 stores and restaurants. Complimentary copies of the profile sheet, a list of job opportunities and benefit information will be distributed. Stores will be reviewing applications and hiring seasonal staff from now until the beginning of summer.
