I caught up with local resident Jane Solomn, owner of La Botana and Seagrove Coyote in Seagrove Beach, for this week's SouthWaltonScene.com Q&A. Read on as Jane shares about her recent vacation, her favorite restaurants in South Walton, words of wisdom her grandmother shared with her and more!

How long have you lived in South Walton? You were born and raised in....
"Lived here for almost 2 years, born in Dothan, Alabama but lived all over the US and Mexico."
You already live at the beach - where do you vacation?
"Just got back from Jackson, Wyoming. It was awesome and there is something amazing about leaving a place on the hottest day of the year at 98 degrees and getting off the plane and it being a cool 45 degrees!! I love landscape no matter where it is!!!"
What book(s) is on your nightstand?
"The Thrive Diet by Brendan Brazier...I want to be healthy but always end up eating a Big Mac."
If you were to come back as someone else, who would you be?
"My Mother, she never met a stranger, never misses a party and has been called the Queen of 30A for years."
What is your single greatest achievement so far?
"Children, they make you want to be a better person, you can't help but see yourself in them."
What is your favorite restaurant in South Walton?
"OH, what a question. I have several including La Botana!! But I've been known to frequent Pizza by the Sea, Great Southern, Borago...."
What 2 things can you not live without?
"Exercise and Diet Coke"
What would you do if you won $1 million?
"Adopt more children, or open a girl's orphanage"
If you could change one thing about yourself, it would be...
"I really would like to do more yoga and eat whole foods only. I don't see it happening. (remember the Big Mac?)"
You are granted one wish. What is it?
"To end child abuse."
The best thing about South Walton is....
"The most interesting people and view from my window."
What is the greatest love in your life?
"(Husband) Philip and my family."
What are the most important qualities in a friend?
"Honesty no matter what. Loyalty no matter what. Laughter"
Would you say happiness is found or made?
"Happiness is a choice. My grandmother found our place here in South Walton and she told me everyday, "You wake up and chose to be happy, then you spread that on to someone else, so they feel guilty if they are unhappy." I make the happiness choice every day."
