Q: How long have you lived in South Walton? Where did you move from? Why South Walton?
My husband and I have lived in South Walton just over 4 1/2 years. Since we moved from Atlanta, we wanted to live in an area without as much traffic. South Walton was perfect...close enough to everything and yet far enough away to not be in Destin traffic.
Q: You have two very informative blogs - a Real Estate blog at www.DebbieJames.com and an inspirational, holistic health blog at www.HealthyLifeWithMaxBlog .com . Please tell us all about both of them!
Somewhere along the way, I discovered I like really enjoy helping people. I felt blogging was one way to do so. In Atlanta, my husband and I were real estate investors (still are) and heard horror stories from buyers & sellers. This was mostly do to them being uneducated in Real Estate. I want my blog to be a "place" someone can go and get honest informative information. Having some national news and also local information, I felt, would give my readers a good mix.
My health blog has sort of evolved. Thanks to my Mom, I discovered the "all natural way" many years ago. Due to my own personal issues, she wanted me to try something different. It's not that I don't believe in doctors and medication, it's just that Doctors treat the symptoms, they don't discover what is causing them. That's what holistic/natural health is about. The more I learned (and still learning) the more passionate I get. So many people are "killing" themselves with the foods they eat and the medications they take. It seems we get older and older, the doctors keep prescribing more and more medication. Probably because 1 drug causes side effects, so the Doctor prescribes another drug to treat those side effects...and it just snow balls.
With natural doctors, they want to discover what is causing the symptoms. Do you know that just about everyone has some sort of food allergy? 2 out of 3 Americans are overweight??!! There is a natural way to increase your energy level, strengthen your immune system, improve focus and so much more! Recently my natural doctor, Leesa, suggested I stay away from gluten/wheat as it's an allergy stressor to me. Within a day or so, my breathing drastically improved! My husband found out in 2004 he is allergic to yeast...makes him extremely tired (see my blog post on Oct. 19 for his story). I got my friend to take her 4 year old son, Sage, to Leesa. He is A.D.D. and she doesn't want to give him drugs. Leesa suggested she cut wheat out of his diet. He is doing so much better in school now. I could go on and on.
The one thing we all have control over, is what we put in our body. I enjoy helping to educate people on alternative ways to get to the same finish line.
Q: Where do you get all of your inspiration for both sites?
I am constantly reading blogs, reading the local newspapers, and occasionally CNN or CNBC. (Don't watch the news very often, to depressing!) I love to learn about both topics, so it's fun.
Q: Do you have any other sites online we need to know about or any favorites you can share?
www.HealthyLifeWithMax.com - Supplements that are having profound effects on people, myself and my husband included. Of course, they are all natural.
www.GetLotsOfReferrals.com - An awesome tool for Realtors, business owners, sales reps, to stay in touch with customers/prospects and develop better relationships.
www.DigitalCoastImage.com - My husband is an awesome photographer. He has done a lot of real estate shoots, too.
www.yeastfreecooking.com - My good friend Lori is allergic to just about every food. She is an awesome cook and her cookbook is incredible.
Q: What is your favorite thing to do on a day off in South Walton?
Well, being a Realtor, I haven't had one of those in a while. I love to play golf and walk on the beach.
Thanks, Debbie!
